Reflecting back

Jumped around my blog tonight and re-read some old posts and re-lived some old memories. The last show was such hard work and great stress but in the end (and not just because of the way it ended) I can say I loved it better.

I looked back and saw that this show lacked that wide-eyed excitement of each city. Suppose that comes with experience... one no longer appreciates as much... but I think I just saw more last time - and lived more. And I think, in the end, people actually bitched less on ASU - not sure how that is possible but it seems to be true.

Still can't get blogger to let me post photos - oh please someone explain to me why.

In the mean time I found, on Youtube, the commercial Clooney shot in Atlanta the night before we opened at the Fox in Atlanta on ASU.

Enjoy

2008 - Back on the Road

So Toronto and Detroit have so far dominated 2008. Toronto was a whirlwind but I did manage a small walkabout around the city. It's such a great place. I enjoyed it - just wish it had been longer

Detroit has forced us all to be creative with our limited free time but of course we managed a bowling night. Greg and Susan also gave me a special night off. Greg's mom and I went to a Red Wing game. They lost - of course - but much to Jason's shagrin I now am decked out in a Red Wing Jersey and ball cap.

I will try to upload some photos tonight but right now blogger isn't letting me

Even a dollar

So Broadway Cares is getting hit really hard this season thanks to the strike. In an effort try and make back some of the over $300,000 they are losing a night with the strike (it's been going now for 18 days - you do the math) they have set up this new online team raiser area. This allows folks on the shows as well as fans of the shows to support BCEFA from their computers.

The link to the Team fundraising information is here
http://www.broadwaycares.org/events/GypsyOnlineFundraising2007.cfm

I'm of course on the Whistle tour but pick whatever show you want. The important thing is that if you want to give that you have a way too. BCEFA needs the help of theatre fans from all over the country.

Even ONE DOLLAR would make a huge difference

thanks for listening

And enjoy the photos from the casino just outside of Vancouver I took yesterday!

St Paul - we're back again

In a city where the Peanuts gang are sprinkled everywhere. Little Bronze statues of childhoods favorite gang.

It was hot and humid when I arrived on Sunday. It felt like Florida did. Today it's in the mid 50's. Fall has been skipped and jumped right to winter. Nope - no global warming on this planet. WHATEVER.

Florida was a glorous time of kicking back with friends over good food, drink and conversation.

Now two weeks back with the theatre folk before I am back on layoff.

That layoff will involve helping out at the Honors event in LA for the Matthew Shepard Foundation. I suspect that will be one lengthy blog after it's over.

In the mean time it's all about Saint Paul.

Oh - The Yankees got BEAT!!!! YIPPEE!!! And the Rockies got in. As anyone who reads the blog knows I got to see a preseason and now they are in the playoffs! So I am pulling for Denver to go all the way! (I AM ALSO REMEMBERING IN THAT GAME I SAW THE DIAMONDBACKS PLAYED THE ROCKIES AND LOST!!!!!!)

Buh Bye...

Last show in Houston. A few last minute images to share with folks.

A shot of the Astros/Brewers game - with my free bat. It was also dollar hotdog night.

The Homer puzzle - looks simple right? Oh no it wasn't. It's one of those pictures that's made up of lots of other pictures. It took well over two weeks for about a half dozen of us to finish. WE DID !!

Oh and the last! My favorite. Dollar Friday's are a tradition on the road. Everyone throws a dollar in a bucket with their name on it. A dollar is drawn out. The name is the winner. One year on the road and I FINALLY WON!

Off to Hartford on Monday morning. Tomorrow a day off

Friends on stage

So the press opening was Thursday but for those at the venue tonight is opening.

With no rehearsal and only about two hours notice a certain tall redhead is going on tonight in one of the ensemble roles. It is such a kick to know someone as long as I have known the redhead.

Tonight marks another in a long line of life chapters. Friendship and theatre - forever interconnected with this one.

It's weird to not have Judith having people hold hands and play the energy passing game or having him teasing me about telling people where to be when.

At the same time it's wonderful to be blessed with a friendship that has lasted as long as this one has.

Many years - quite and honor.

I'm a lucky person to have many people in my life who are just amazing.

The Darts begin to fly

http://blogs.chron.com/aboutlastnight/2007/09/whistle_transplants_fable_of_c.html

Proof that Americans are a cynical bunch.

Even when seeing shows where people break into song they are looking for realism in a bunch of poverty stricken kids who want to cling to ANY hope?

Huh?

I will say it's not entirely off point. The race relations thing is WAY off and a bit of a slap to our sick history of treating people badly who are different.

Anyway.

The photo above comes from the Houston Underground. It's the marker that when you are going through the tunnels that tells you that you have reached the City Hall building. It's also a marker that helps me find my way to the theatre.

Nope - not weather this time

We leave a week from Sunday.
Not completely set on who all is coming.
Might be exciting news to report soon though.

Looking forward to this one but miss the old one.

A new adventure begins
